Cambodia cannot move further to become a civilized nation when the freedom of newspaper has been deprived. Cambodia will become worse and fall into the pit of dictatorship when individual Cambodian cannot exercise their basic rights, liberty and freedom of speech. The belief of strong government structure without having individual participation and community involvement is the hell idea of those brainless leaders and scholars.
Just a week when Cambodian bloggers and Cambodians in general have blogged, commented and expressed their concerns relating the fake movie clip of Thai history, the official website of www.ilovethailand.org has deleted that movie clip from their website as well as the forum titled "thief thai..." which there are some Cambodians wrote comments there. But that movie is still in www.youtube.com.
This update and change in the website might be happened because of:
- There are many Cambodian younger generations are really active to respond to this fabrication. Many Cambodian younger generations are increasingly learning about their culture, history and play their important roles to guard their nation.
- This website has quickly deleted that movies because this website might be not really owned by Abhisit or Thai government. It might be created by individual Thai. If it is so, why Cambodian government and Cambodian newspapers paid much attention to this trivial things. Why government and those newspaper didn't take a concrete project to exchange Thai textbooks for their student to officially delete the misleading information of Thai history relating its neighbors? We can see that there are small numbers of Thai people who visited that www.ilovethailand.org website.
- Pro-government newspapers and magazines are increasingly publishing trivial news such as raping, sexual stipulation, burgurizing and street thieves etc. But those pro-government newspapers and magazines have never published proper education news, corrupt officials and encourage open society especially the indepedence of media at all.
- More than this, government is going to become a dictatorship through its consequent mechanism to silence the voice of opposition especially the imprisonment of Hang Chakra and Dam Sith. Now, Dam Sith is stopping publishing Khmer Conscience Newspaper because of his personal security. He is living under a cornering tactic of Hun Sen.
- Cambodia is losing one of its important voice for the bright future of Cambodia because Khmer Conscience Newspaper is closed while the murdering case of journalist Kem Sombou is still floating in the air.
