Sam Rainsy has learned a good lesson previously in dealing with Hun Sen. This time, his firm determination will be never changed.

It is painful for Cambodians to see that few wood poles can lead to the criminal conviction of Sam Rainsy, how about killing hundreds and thousands of Cambodian people in the hand of Hun Sen?

Hun Sen's court to convict such a trivial act of Sam Rainsy is a boomeranging sign of dooming day of Hun Sen.

Who said Hun Sen government is strong and patriotic?

Political Analysis Today:
by Khmer Young
We will see more communist political tactics employ by Hun Sen government to discredit and demolish the SRP but at the end, Hun Sen will loss face that his power will have no legitimacy because of main opposition leader cannot compete with him in the political ring.

Dear Cambodian Compatriots:

It has been almost two years since 23 September 2010 court of Cambodia sentenced Sam Rainsy 12 years in jail in absentia. Everyone including kids who are still sucking their fingers know that the decision of the court and the involvement of Cambodian government with this court is politically motivated.

However, this card playing by Hun Sen is crucially important. If we idealized about the nature of politics, Hun Sen can play any card for the sake of power like Thomas Hobbs described politics as the use of every means to success and gain the power. But if we idealized this tactic in a Cambodian conscience, it is surely unacceptable and indignant.

Why the game of trial of Sam Rainsy including the two farmers at the border is indignant?

The answer is because Hun Sen and his court are playing the political game of serving foreigner.

In Cambodian constitution clearly stated that every Cambodian people especially government or opposition party obtain full duty to protect the border territory particularly the farmers living along the border. All farmers' complains at the border must be justly cared and solved.

So, in this matter, Hun Sen government is not only abusing his power to serve foreigner, but CPP court is also violating the chapter of Cambodian constitution. Cambodian people and opposition party will sue the court and the Hun Sen government about this violation (if the Cambodian court is puppetic and cannot proceed this verdict, we will also raise this issue to the co-signatories of Paris Peace Agreement who has also participated with the ratification of Cambodian national constitution).

But it is not necessary to go further for that as Hun Sen now is stuck by his own image of puppetic policy and indignant strategy.

  • 1. The Cambodian people have seen clearly that the sentence of opposition leader, Sam Rainsy, and those farmers are political trial that serve the Vietnamese interest more than Cambodian interest.
  • 2. The political propaganda of Preah Vihear to divert the attention of Cambodian people are not working very well and it has demonstrated Hun Sen government's weakness in handling the issue with Thailand.
  • 3. The political propaganda of creating division inside the SRP, the creation of HRP to orchestrate as the main alternative opposition party, the creation of oversea movement (such as the so-called KPPM of SSR) to discredit SRP and their leader, the buy-out and entitlement of SRP members and especially Sam Rainsy are in vain now.

We will see more communist political tactics employ by Hun Sen government to discredit and demolish the SRP but at the end, Hun Sen will loss face that his power will have no legitimacy because of main opposition leader cannot compete with him in the political ring.

And the last card Hun Sen will play is the election mechanism and vote-manipulating and buying. But like I mentioned earlier, Hun Sen is aware about it. He can buy power by fake election/voting, but he can not buy Cambodian people heart. And finally, Hun Sen cannot write a new history of Cambodia for younger Cambodians. In that time, Hun Sen will be inscribed as the traitor and murderer like Pol Pot. Certainly, Pol Pot and Hun Sen including few high ranking figures like Hor Namhong and Keath Chon are former Khmer Rouge leaders.

At the end, Sam Rainsy and SRP party only that truly work for Cambodia and her beloved people. More Hun Sen try to discredit and demolish this party, more we can see SRP become the leading Naga.

Do you understand the "Law of Reaction"?

Man Sam An, CVFA and the Imbalance of Power inside CPP

The odd is still the same, when Vietnam can put new one on the top, the rests and former top will become paralyzed or extinct.

How good method like this? Vietnam has used it very effectively. Vietnam will never lose benefit in utilizing Khmers fight with Khmers for power. Khmers who are paranoid in power will get the power when they can act as a real lackey to Vietnam.

Reading this article, I would like to say congratulation Man Sam An for your gut to abide by perspective and order of Vietnamese leaders regarding Sam Rainsy and the border poles.

As we can observe, Cambodia's history has repeated again and again. Who served best to Vietnamese interests, that person can exceed their position to the highest post promptly.

For instance, Pol Pot came to power because of his obey to Vietnamese top leaders in their campaign to overturn America and Lon Nol. When Pol Pot disengaged from Vietnam; Hun Sen, Chea Sim and Heng Samrin were the best candidates for Vietnam to overturn Pol Pot. Impressively, when Pen Sovann was not really their servant, Vietnam quickly installed younger Hun Sen to power inside the same party.

Now, Man Sam An who is listenable to Vietnam and she is also the president of Cambodia-Vietnam Friendship Association (CVFA), if she can achieve this task of suing Sam Rainsy, she will be raised up high, or we can say she can be higher than Sar Keng who is the current highest deputy prime minister. Man Sam An has been running faster than brilliant Sok An and other prime minister deputies.

In contradict, as we are Khmers, we can ask simple question that "how can Man Sam An worship Vietnam by jailing our same Khmer race accordingly?".

In reality, Vietnam just wants to test their tiny trick to lure Hun Sen into their trap. If just this poles of border, Vietnam can sue or jail Sam Rainsy, it explicitly shows about many previous treaties that Hun Sen, Chea Sim and Heng Samrin had severally signed with Vietnam.

Vietnamese leader is using this issue to sue Sam Rainsy in order to threaten those CPP's leaders not to get away from them under the prospect of laws.

Sam Rainsy has done nothing wrong, and I want to see Man Sam An realize the truth that finally she will become a victim because of her affinity towards Vietnamese leader in taming their own Khmer race. Pol Pot is a good example for Man Sam An.

Let Man Sam An think about this!

Bravo Sam Rainsy and Khmer race!

Sam Rainsy at the border of Cambodia-Vietnam: thing that is not silent any more

Bravo Sam Rainsy!
This is a very good time for all Cambodians to ensure that the protection of Cambodian border with Thailand is very important as well as the protection of border with Vietnam is also very important. These two countries have gradually encroached Cambodia land until we are left in a small size like a "leave of bodhi tree" nowadays.

Every Cambodian and government officials have to appreciate with Sam Rainsy who has made this debate happen in order to tell Vietnam that their gradual violation through the border demarcation is not silent any more.

Again, some of CPP's members and misunderstanding Khmers might have always condemned Sam Rainsy of acting like a hyper-politician. But now, I have word to balance my argument.

1. Sam Rainsy has done a correct thing for Cambodian nation. What is the measure to demarcate Cambodian border correctly? By GIS or by people who have lived in those actual lands years and years. We all know that respectful bilateral treaty has never existed between Vietnam and Hun Sen government. Children can also understand this common relationship. China might back Cambodia to face with Vietnam, but surely Hun Sen leadership will not do that because of huge gratitude that Hun Sen has to pay back to Vietnam. Otherwise, the Cambodian land which was claimed by those local farmers are truly belonging to them (Cambodians). The demarcation and border poles are just the treaty of "kill without bleeding". Those Cambodian farmers are the primary witness of Vietnam who has always encroached Cambodia land. But through the supplemental border treaty, Vietnam can demarcate (encroach) deep into our Cambodian land legally. Importantly, this Vietnamese news has well utilized its primary purpose to condemn Sam Rainsy. Very good, we are looking to hearing the feedback from our government.

Interestingly, the theme and style of this news is the same as the news/statement of Hun Sen government.

Sam Rainsy, Hun Sen, NEC, and Political Game in Cambodia

Sam Rainsy has been so brave to play politics in wild environment of Cambodia. In Cambodia, I guarantee, if we don't have a strong and brave opposition leader like Sam Rainsy, Cambodia will be easily falling into absolute dictatorship. Now, Cambodia is led by absolutist as well, but it is better because there is still having opposition party.

However, Sam Rainsy's political rhetoric should be adjusted and spoken in a more productive way, don't follow or imitate Hun Sen's unproductive political rhetoric.

Sam Rainsy perceived well that NEC's lawsuit against him is just politically oriented one. And he stated several times that those amount of money is not huge for him as he has always donated for social charity more than that. But he has waited to see that how NEC will play its neutral role. So, this case shows us again, the evidence that, NEC is not neutral at all.

Second thing is the major voice of assembly. Assembly exists only physical appearance, but inside that assembly power is controlled by one-man absolutist. Hun Sen intimidated Sam Rainsy and assembly followed Hun Sen's like a very clever dog.

Like I mentioned previously, Cambodia's political game of election and assembly are just the "clown" of Hun Sen's power thirst. It is not better off to develop democracy at all. Hun Sen himself has no willingness to develop anything better if his own power thirst is not facilitated for him. Of course, only Hun Sen and his cronies who want Cambodia to move in this way. There are many other CPP's elites, opposition parties, and Cambodian peoples who are wanting change, and accruing genuine democracy development for future Cambodia.

Currently, major public praise Hun Sen for his credits of stopping KR, war and facing with territorial conflict with Thailand, but if this theory shows something truth about the trick of Hun Sen behind these beliefs, you might think in opposite way. I don't tell you that truth, you can figure out by your own.

Protect our farmers

Written by Sam Rainsy
Tuesday, 10 March 2009

The Phnom Penh Post
To understand Thailand's trade policy as it is affecting us, we must know that, contrary to the Cambodian government - which abandons farmers to market price fluctuations and leaves them in a desperate situation - the Thai government has been steadily following a more social-oriented policy that consists of supporting and stabilizing agricultural prices so as to protect farmers' revenue and living conditions.

Dear Editor,

From The Phnom Penh Post report titled "Cassava farmers advised to delay harvest" (March 3), one can see how the recent fall in the prices of agricultural products is affecting Cambodian farmers' revenue and living conditions. In northwestern provinces such as Battambang and Banteay Meanchey, where farmers used to sell most of their crops to Thailand, the situation is particularly distressing because prices have touched record lows at a time when Thailand has closed its borders to Cambodian products such as cassava.

Thailand's attitude has understandably made many Cambodians nervous. At the provincial level, the director of the Battambang Agriculture Department reportedly said: "The price of cassava is down because the Thai government only allows its businessmen to buy from Thai farmers." At the national level, Commerce Minister Cham Prasidh was quoted as powerlessly lamenting: "I have to wait and see when Thai authorities will open the gates to allow cassava into the Thai market," while blaming Thai protectionism for the price decline.

However, in spite of the seriousness of the situation, the Cambodian public has never been given any rational explanation for why Thailand has closed its borders to Cambodian farm products. Our response to Thailand cannot be properly determined if we don't understand the rationale behind our neighbour's policy.

The Bangkok Post reported on March 3: "The [Thai] government planned to spend 120 billion baht [US$3.3 billion] this year to buy tapioca [cassava], rice, maize and palm oil under the agricultural intervention scheme [... and] the government would export all agricultural products bought under the intervention scheme in a bid to prop up domestic prices."

Regarding cassava alone, the same report said: "Under the plan, the government pledges to buy cassava root for two baht [230 riels] per kilogram in February, with the pledging price to increase by 50 satang [57 riels] per month until April 30."

In the Post report, farmers said last month that cassava prices in Cambodia had crashed to 90 riels per kilogram from 300 riels per kilogram in February 2008. We can see that cassava prices in Thailand are currently 2.5 times as high as in Cambodia. This is possible because the Thai government is actually subsidizing Thai farmers through a price-support mechanism that is rather costly in the present period of plummeting prices as a result of the global economic crisis. Understandably, the Thai government wants to reserve the benefits of its price-support policy for Thai farmers only. This is the reason why they have closed their borders to many Cambodian farm products, notably cassava, for which there is a huge price differential between the two countries.

Many countries all over the world are doing the same as Thailand regarding their agriculture and trade policies. The moral is that Cambodia actually needs a responsible and caring government to implement appropriate policies because, more than anyone else, vulnerable Cambodian farmers deserve support and protection.
